The Principle I Remind Myself Before Meeting Anyone

Last month, my family and I were going to a member’s house for cell group. We were already slightly late and as the cell leader, I really didn’t like that.

As I was driving into the open car park, it started raining. To make things worst, I received a text that the dinner that I ordered for everyone had not arrived. While I was on the phone with the food delivery person, two other cell members walked over with an umbrella and asked if we needed any help. I was overwhelmed. Where is our food? How am I going to get my two babies out in this rain?

Without looking at them, I said, “No problem, I got this. Go in first.”

When things settled down, I realized that I forgot to greet them and was immediately convicted.

The principle: people are more important than our problems.

More often than not, the ‘logistical’ problems that overwhelm us will go away, but how we love others will last for eternity. Moving forward, I’ll remind myself of this principle before meeting anyone.
